PREVENTIVE MEASURES

Rules for acting

  • Do not place any object hindering transit or emergency pathways.
  • All work places and transit pathways are to be kept clean, dry and orderly. When any spillage of liquids occurs, this is to be mopped up immediately, signposting the area while it is wet

Personal protection

  • Safety footwear with non-slip soles.

  • Using the jib of a truck-mounted crane.
  • Objects falling from shelving or from the backs of trucks.
  • Objects falling from the backs of trucks.
  • Unstable piling up of spools, containers, crates or other objects.

PREVENTIVE MEASURES

Rules for acting

  • Manual handling of loads is always to be carried out wearing gloves, which are to be free of slippery substances.
  • Load handling is to be carried out in accordance with the stipulations in the corresponding procedure, PL0203: Handling, storage, packaging, conservation and delivery.
  • Mechanical handling of loads:
    • Do not stand under suspended loads.
    • Maintain safety distances.
    • Previously check auxiliary equipment: slings, straps, etc., and use these properly.
    • Hooks are to be equipped with safety latches.
    • Overhead cranes, truck-mounted cranes and forklifts are only to be used by authorised personnel.
  • Unstable piles
    • Avoid unstable and/or excessively high piling up of spools, containers, crates or other objects.

Personal protection

  • Safety footwear with reinforced toecaps.
  • Safety helmet (in the vicinity of mechanical load handling: cranes and forklifts).
  • Gloves providing protection against mechanical aggressions due to manual handling of loads.
