310 Exposure to chemical pollutants.

RISK FACTORS

  • Possibility of spillage of the chemical products used in our activities during their handling or transport to the job, such as: paint, solvents, toluene, pyralene, gasoline, gasoil, white cutting oil, anti-rust primer, sealants, aluminothermal welding cartridges, V-2 (cold galvanising chlorate-free solvent cleaner, penetrating oil, Al finish and protector).
  • Contact with dirty products, materials or equipment.

PREVENTIVE MEASURES

Rules for acting

  • Keep the aforementioned products well sealed and transport them to the site in an appropriate manner so as to avoid possible leakage or breakage of their containers.
  • Containers in good condition. Periodic checking of these. Do not use any kind of container for this purpose.
  • Keep a copy of the safety data sheet of all the chemical products in the store.
  • Maximize precautions when loading or unloading these products.
  • Do not eat, drink or smoke after handling these products without having washed your hands and face with neutral soap and plenty of water (even though you have used gloves and a mask).
  • Read the labels and safety data sheets on chemical products so as to adopt the precautions indicated by the manufacturer during their handling, storage and transport.

Personal protection

  • Safety gloves and goggles.
  • Suitable masks, depending on the manufacturer’s instructions and on the ventilation of the premises.

RISK FACTORS

  • Possibility of fires due to short-circuits, overcurrents or conductors in poor conditions, Contacts with combustible material (paper, cardboard, wood, plastic, paint, etc.).
  • Transporting inflammable materials to the site.
  • Due to the vehicle suffering an accident.
  • Storage and transport of welding gas bottles.

PREVENTIVE MEASURES

Rules for acting

  • Avoid storing combustible material (office and store material) in the vicinity of areas where heat is generated.
  • In areas where inflammable and/or combustible materials (paint, solvents, gasoline, etc.) are stored and storage areas for welding gas bottles, the prohibition regarding smoking or lighting a flame is to be signposted. Storage of this kind is to be carried out in ventilated areas with appropriate fire-fighting equipment nearby.
  • Welding gas bottles are to be handled with caution and are to be permanently secured to supports or trolleys. They are always to be transported and stored in the vertical position.
  • Do not smoke in the presence of combustible and/or inflammable materials.
  • Protect inflammable materials in the back of trucks from sunlight.
  • Vehicles are to filled up with fuel in ventilated places, with the engine turned off, far from sparks and heat sources and with mobile phones and radios switched off.
  • Periodic checks of fire-extinguishing equipment.
  • Avoid placing objects that hinder access to extinguishers.

  • Portable fire extinguishers
