4. HAZARDS AND PREVENTIVE MEASURES IN THE HANDLING OF AUXILIARY ELEMENTS

All the aforementioned elements are to be properly stored rolled up and must not be left lying around in places where they may suffer wear. Before they are used, check that they are in a good state of repair.

  • Slings are to have the load marked on them, as well as the CE mark.
  • The effective payload is to be calculated by multiplying the weight of the load by the indicated coefficient depending on the angles formed by the branches.

  • If po
  • ranches of different slings are not to be mounted one over the other on the hook and are never to rest upon sharp edges.
  • Before starting to hoist the load, lift it slightly off the ground (to a height of no more than 10 cm) and manually tense the slings to check that they are well secured and the load is balanced.
  • During the hoisting operation, do not touch the slings and keep away from the load.
  • Workers who handle loads are to always wear a helmet, safety boots with reinforced toecaps, gloves for mechanical work and safety goggles when work conditions present a risk for their eyes.
