5. Elevating Platform

Filling-up and recharging

Diesel-powered platforms: comply with the following indications when filling up with fuel:

  • Fill up in a place that is ventilated.
  • Make sure that the diesel is of the appropriate type.
  • Do not fill the tank too much or spill any diesel.
  • Keep the engine switched off.
  • Do not smoke or light a flame.
  • Have means of extinction nearby.
  • Always have fuel containers duly labelled.

Electric-powered platforms: the batteries must be recharged by the supplier, except in the case of elevating platforms owned by the Firm. To recharge a platform belonging to us, the following health and safety indications are to be complied with:

  • Recharge batteries in ventilated areas (to avoid the risk of explosive gases that may be given off accumulating).
  • Do not smoke or light a flame.
  • The battery terminals must not enter into Contact with metals.
  • Have means of extinction nearby.
  • If water has to be added to the battery, do so when it is recently charged.

Qualifications to use an elevating platform

Only personnel exclusively qualified by the company may handle elevating platforms. Said persons are to be identified by means of stickers on their helmets. There are two types of qualification depending on the specific training received.

Filling-up and recharging

Handling of self-propelled aerial platforms (Type 1): Specific course on the handling of self-propelled aerial platforms.

Handling of platforms (Type 2): STraining session imparted on-site by the Foreman and registered in the corresponding HS126. Authorisation to handle work equipment (site).

Personal Protection Equipment

The PPE to use is the following:

  • Safety helmet.
  • Safety boots.
  • Safety goggles.
  • Safety harness.
