11. Hazards resulting from the use of cable laying machines
Most important hazards:
- Getting trapped.
- Knocking against objects.
- Electrical Contacts.
Preventive measures:
- The machine is to be securely anchored.
- Monitor the good state of repair of the pull rope.
- Keep the work area free of materials and other objects.
- The machine is to have an earth and a current-activated circuit-breaker.
- It is advisable to place a protective screen for the person handling the machine as a prevention against unforeseen breakages of the cable/rope and the possibility of backlash.
PPE to use:
- Ear protection.
- Safety helmet.
- Safety footwear.
- Safety gloves.
- Safety goggles.
