10. Classification of PPE

10.1. Protective headgear

A helmet must be worn; this is an element that when placed on the head, protects the top of it from falling objects. It must comprise, at least, a casing and a suspension.

Markings:

The helmet must bear the following identification:

  • European Standard number.
  • The manufacturer’s name or trademark.
  • The year and quarter it was manufactured.
  • Helmet model.
  • Size range.

Important information:

Each helmet must have a label with the following information:
“This helmet must fit the user’s size. It is conceived to absorb the energy of an impact via the partial destruction or damage to its casing and suspension. Therefore, even in the case of such damage not being apparent, any helmet that has suffered a severe impact must be replaced. Do not modify the helmet in any way whatsoever”.
