10. Classification of PPE

10.2. Foot protection

Safety footwear for professional use must be worn. This incorporates protection elements aimed at protecting the user from injuries that might be caused by accidents in those work sectors for which the footwear has been conceived and which is equipped with caps designed to offer protection against impact.

Labelling:

The footwear must bear the following identification:

  • Size.
  • Manufacturer’s trademark.
  • Designation of the type of manufacturer.
  • Date manufactured (quarter and year).
  • Manufacturer’s nationality.
  • European Standard number.
  • The symbols corresponding to the protection provided.

These symbols mean the following:

S: Has a steel toe cap with an impact strength of 200 Jules.
P: Has penetration-resistant protection for the sole.
WRU: Is resistant to the penetration and absorption of water.
CI: Is resistant to cold.
C: Conducting footwear.
A: Anti-static footwear.
I: Insulating footwear.
